Things to do in Barcelona
Sagrada Familia
The Sagrada Família is more than just a landmark; it’s a symbol of Barcelona’s soul and artistic genius. Designed by the legendary Antoni Gaudí, this breathtaking basilica is a fusion of Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, with intricate facades, towering spires, and a celestial interior that feels otherworldly. Though construction began in 1882, it remains unfinished, making it the world’s most famous work-in-progress —a testament to vision and perseverance.
Stepping inside, visitors are bathed in ethereal light as sunlight filters through vibrant stained-glass windows, creating a kaleidoscope of colors. The soaring columns, resembling a mystical forest, enhance the feeling of divinity and wonder. Each detail of the basilica tells a story, from biblical narratives carved into the Nativity and Passion facades to the delicate play of nature-inspired motifs.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sagrada Família isn’t just a church—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Whether you admire its grandeur from the outside or explore its awe-inspiring interiors, it’s an absolute must-visit for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and spiritual seekers alike. No trip to Barcelona is complete without witnessing this extraordinary masterpiece that continues to shape the city’s skyline and heart.
We did an audio guide tour here. I would highly recommend an audio/guided tour to understand the vision and thought behind this grand structure. Book a similiar experience like mine right HERE!
Park Güell
Park Güell is one of Antoni Gaudí’s most enchanting creations, blending nature, art, and architecture into a surreal masterpiece. Perched on Carmel Hill, this UNESCO-listed park offers breathtaking views of Barcelona, vibrant mosaics, and organic structures inspired by nature. The iconic serpentine bench, Gaudí’s dragon fountain, and gingerbread-like pavilions make it feel like a fairy tale setting.
A visit to Park Güell is a journey into Gaudí’s imagination, where colors, curves, and creativity come alive. Whether you’re an art lover, nature enthusiast, or photographer, this magical escape is a must-visit, offering inspiration and a unique perspective on Barcelona’s artistic heritage.

Gothic Quarters
The Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic) is the soul of old Barcelona, where medieval charm meets vibrant city life. A maze of cobblestone streets, hidden squares, and centuries-old buildings, this district is home to architectural gems like the Barcelona Cathedral, ancient Roman walls, and picturesque plazas.
Wandering through its narrow alleys, you’ll find charming cafés, boutique shops, and street musicians adding to the enchanting atmosphere. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture lover, or culture seeker, the Gothic Quarter offers an immersive experience into Barcelona’s past and present, making it a must-visit for every traveler.
Fun fact: At the bottom of the bridge you will discover a skull that is believed to be authentic, pierced by a dagger. There are several urban legends about its meaning, one of them is if you walk backwards looking directly at the skull you will be granted the desire you are thinking and the most apolitical legend, is the one that explains that if one day someone took the dagger that crosses the skull, the city would sink on its foundations.
Barcelona Cathedral
The Barcelona Cathedral (Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia) is a stunning example of Catalan Gothic architecture, standing majestically in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. Its ornate façade, soaring spires, and intricate cloisters transport visitors back to medieval times. Inside, breathtaking stained-glass windows, grand chapels, and the crypt of Saint Eulalia add to its sacred aura.
The rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of Barcelona, making it a must-visit. Whether for its historical significance, spiritual ambiance, or architectural beauty, the Barcelona Cathedral is an unmissable landmark that captures the city’s rich heritage and timeless charm.

Arc De Triomf
The Arc de Triomf is a stunning red-brick archway that served as the main entrance to the 1888 Barcelona World Fair. Located near Ciutadella Park, it’s a popular spot for strolling, photography, and street performances.
