About me

My father never let money be an excuse.

We were a middle-class family. There was no business class. No five-star hotels. No luxury itineraries planned by a travel agent. But every single year, without fail, he made sure we packed our bags and went somewhere new.

Different cities. Different cultures. Different food. Different people.

He never said it out loud, but what he was really teaching me was this — the world is not reserved for the rich. It is for anyone curious enough to go out and find it.

That lesson never left me.

Hi, I'm Ritu.

I’m a Chartered Accountant working at a Big 4 consultancy by day. And a traveller, storyteller, and budget travel obsessive every other waking hour.

I launched ritudey.com in September 2021 — not because I had it all figured out, but because I had something to say. Something I felt wasn’t being said loudly enough in the world of travel content.

That travel is not about luxury. It is about genuine experiences.

I have travelled across India and abroad — from the misty hills of Meghalaya to the deserts of Rajasthan, from the beaches of Goa to the streets of Spain. Not on a fat expense account. Not on inherited wealth. On careful planning, smart financial decisions, credit card points, and the belief that where there is a will, there is always a budget.

What You Will Find Here

This is not a blog full of dreamy resort reviews and aspirational content that makes you feel like travel is out of reach.

This is a blog for the real traveller. The one with a full-time job, a middle-class budget, and a long list of places they want to see before they die.

Here you will find:

1) Honest destination guides — the good, the hard, and the things nobody tells you before you go

2) Budget breakdowns — real numbers, real costs, no sugarcoating

3) Financial travel hacks — how to use credit card points, book free hotel stays, find the best flight deals, and travel smarter with every rupee

4) Itineraries that actually work — for people with limited time and a realistic budget

Why I Do This

Because I remember being that person.

The one who scrolled through youtube videos and thought — that’s not for someone like me.

I want to be the proof that it is. That a middle-class kid from India can see the world.

That you don’t need to wait until you’re rich to start travelling. That the experiences are out there, right now, waiting for you — if you know how to find them.

That is what this blog is for.

Let's Go

If you are planning a trip and don’t know where to start — you are in the right place.

Browse the destination guides. Save the budget breakdowns. Use the hacks. And if something here helps you take a trip you didn’t think you could afford — write to me. I want to hear about it.

Travel is for everyone. Let me show you how.
