Top attractions of Kuala Lumpur

Petronas Twin Towers

The iconic Petronas Twin Towers, standing majestically at 452 meters, offer breathtaking views of Kuala Lumpur. The Skybridge on the 41st floor offers a breathtaking view and a thrilling experience of walking between the towers. The towers house a variety of attractions, including a science center, an art gallery, and a massive shopping mall. At night, the illuminated towers create a stunning spectacle, reflecting the vibrant energy and modernity of the city.

The surrounding KLCC Park offers serene walking paths and a stunning fountain show.

Batu caves

Batu Caves, a series of limestone caves and cave temples, is a spiritual and natural marvel. The towering golden statue of Lord Murugan and the 272 colorful steps leading up to the main cave create an awe-inspiring entrance, revealing impressive Hindu shrines within.

You would need atleast half a day to explore the entire complex. Would highly recommend going early in the morning (preferably before 9 am) to avoid the crowds and humidity (also the perfect shot). The place is free to enter!

Thean Hou Temple

Thean Hou Temple, perched on a hill with panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur, is one of Southeast Asia’s oldest and largest temples. This six-tiered marvel, dedicated to the Chinese sea goddess Mazu, blends modern architectural techniques with traditional design. Adorned with intricate carvings, vibrant murals, and stunning sculptures, the temple exudes serenity and cultural richness. Visitors can explore its beautifully landscaped gardens, koi ponds, and the striking main prayer hall. Thean Hou Temple is not only a place of worship but also a cultural landmark, offering a tranquil escape and a glimpse into Malaysia’s rich Chinese heritage.

Menara KL Tower

Standing tall at 421 meters, Menara KL Tower offers panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur from its observation deck. The revolving restaurant adds a unique dining experience, while the surrounding Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve provides a green escape within the city.

The best part of this Tower is the sky deck which is completely open. There are also two Sky Boxes positioned in such a way that you get perfect shots with Twin Towers and Merdeka 118.

I would highly recommend getting the tickets to the Sky deck. The views will blow your mind!

Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant shopping and entertainment district, buzzes with energy. From luxury malls like Pavilion KL to bustling street markets, this area offers a mix of retail therapy, delectable street food, and lively nightlife, ensuring endless excitement.

Merdeka Square

Steeped in history, Merdeka Square is where Malaysia declared independence in 1957. The square features colonial architecture, the 100-meter-high flagpole, and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, making it a perfect spot to soak in the rich heritage of the nation.

Chinatown (Petaling Street)

Dive into the vibrant chaos of Chinatown on Petaling Street. This bustling market is a haven for bargain hunters and food lovers, offering everything from traditional Chinese herbs to knock-off goods, along with tantalizing street food that captures the essence of local flavors.

KL Bird Park

KL Bird Park, the world’s largest free-flight walk-in aviary, spans 20.9 acres within the lush Lake Gardens. Home to over 3,000 birds from 200 species, the park offers an immersive experience where birds roam freely in a naturalistic habitat. Visitors can marvel at colorful parrots, majestic hornbills, and elegant flamingos up close. Daily activities include bird feeding sessions and interactive shows, providing educational insights into avian life. How to get around in Kuala Lumpur

Getting around Kuala Lumpur is convenient with several transportation options available:

b) Taxis and Ride-Sharing: Taxis are widely available, but ensure they use the meter. Ride-sharing services like Grab are popular and often more reliable than taxis, providing convenient door-to-door transport.

Shopping!

Shopping in Kuala Lumpur is a delightful experience with a variety of options ranging from luxurious malls to bustling street markets. Here are some of my favourite malls where you can shop!

a) Pavilion KL: Located in Bukit Bintang, Pavilion KL is a premier shopping destination boasting over 700 retail outlets. It offers high-end fashion brands, dining options, and entertainment facilities, making it a one-stop shop for luxury shopping.

b) Suria KLCC: Situated at the base of the Petronas Twin Towers, Suria KLCC features a mix of international and local brands, a large food court, an art gallery, and an aquarium. It’s a must-visit for both shopping and sightseeing.

c) Publika: An artsy mall with a focus on creativity, Publika features unique boutiques, art galleries, and artisanal cafes. It’s a hub for local designers and artists, offering a distinctive shopping experience.

d) Central Market: For a taste of local culture, Central Market is a heritage site offering traditional crafts, artwork, and souvenirs. It’s a great place to find unique Malaysian gifts and enjoy cultural performances.

Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur?

Kuala Lumpur is one of those cities in the world, where you can enjoy luxury properties at an affordable price! During my stay in Kuala Lumpur, I tried apartment style hotels which were super spacious and offered immaculate views.

During our stay we booked the Wyndham by Ramada and Star Residences. Both properties were excellent to stay at and came with huge living room, a functioning kitchen, bedrooms attached with washroom.

As always we used booking.com to book our stay 🙂
