One of the most loved state in India without any doubt has to be HIMACHAL PRADESH.

Himachal sees the maximum footfall by tourists in India all around the year. You can witness different facets of this beautiful state at different times of the year. From being a backpackers delight to family vacations, Himachal will never fail to impress you.

Here are my top 15 recommendations of places you should definitely visit in Himachal Pradesh –

Manali

One of the crown jewels of Himachal, Manali offers outstanding views of the Himalayan ranges – Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar. Manali is accessible all year around and you can witness its true glory at all times of the year.

Kasol

A backpackers delight, Kasol offers stunning views of the Parvati valley. For all the nature lovers out there, this place is perfect for you to relax and unwind. Kasol has some amazing hostels and cafes for budget travelers. Best time to visit March to June (peak season).

Spiti

Stunning vies + Killer Terrains is how I will explain this place. Also known as the Middle Land or the Cold Desert of India, this place is a travelers delight. If you love winding roads, spectacular murals, ancient temples and stupas; then this is the place for you. The best time to visit is May to October.

Chitkul

Famous for being the last inhabited village in India, Chitkul is a village in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. With the views of the Baspa River, you can enjoy a cup of tea at the Hindustan ka Dhaba. During winters this place becomes inaccessible. The best time to visit is May to October is the best time to visit this place.

Chail

A beautiful hamlet in Himachal, Chail is an offbeat destination 45 kms away from Shimla. This place houses some beautiful forests and nature trails. This place is known for the world’s highest cricket ground and heritage hotel, Chail Palace. Can be visited all around the year.

Tirthan valley

Tirthan Valley is best known for trout fishing, trekking and adventurous activities. Tirthan Valley derives its name from the Tirthan River and is 3 kms away from the entrance of Great Himalayan National Park. Another quaint place to unwind and get lost in nature 

Mcleodganj and Dharamshala

Mcleodganj also known as the “Little Lhasa”, shot to fame when His Holiness Dalai Lama established Tibetan government in exile here. India’s Mini Tibet is a heavenly abode in the laps of the Dhauladhar mountain range. This place has a unique culture of its own and is loved by all kinds of travelers, solo and group alike.

Shimla and Kufri

Here you will find the liberty of slipping into silence and search your soul.

Manikaran

Manikaran is located in Parvati Valley between the rivers Beas and Parvati in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Manikaran is famous for hot water springs, Ramchandra Temple and a Gurudwara. There are many stories which surround this beautiful area, each shedding light on the history of this enchanting place. The hot springs is said to possess curative powers. Many pilgrims take a dip in the holy water to wash away their sins and others seek its curative qualities. The springs are situated near the banks of Parvati River.

Sethan valley

If you are someone who enjoys skiing and snowboarding, then Sethan is the place for you. Located approximately 14 kms away from Manali this is a quaint place in Himachal where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Dhauladhar ranges. Sethan is also famous for Igloo stays and stargazing

Jibhi

Another quite hamlet in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Jibhi is a small village located amidst lush green forests. This place has some amazing tree house accomodations which are one of a kind and beautiful. Its an offbeat location untouched by industralization. Jibhi is a good base for hiking, birding, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Spring/Summer is one of the best times to visit Jibhi.

Bir Billing

Asia’s highest paragliding spot is the perfect place for all adrenalin junkies. Apart from Paragliding you can also try other adventure sports like Bungee Jumping. Another backpackers favorite, Bir is the perfect getaway to spend some quite time in the mountains too. Apart from adventure sports you can also visit the monasteries and eat some amazing food.

Kaza

The largest town in Lahaul Valley and Spiti Valley, Kaza boasts of high mountains with snowy mountains, crystal clear rivers, streams and barren lands with patches of green. Kaza is known for its colorful festivals and the Sakya Tangyud Monastery. If you are visiting Spiti, a trip to Kaza is a must.

Prashar Lake
